West Lake housing were a pleasure to deal with! Their staff speak great English & are always there to help when needed. They found me a fantastic apartment that met all my requirements. I couldn't recommend them enough!

Ordering from their website is a nightmare. Avoid it.

The website doesn't reflect actual stock, so just because it says something is in stock, it doesn't mean it really is. "Maybe at the end of the month."

If they can't fulfil your order immediately, they will cancel any special offers or discounts that applied when you ordered and insist that you pay full price. (In many other countries this is called "Bait and Switch" and is illegal).

Then, they won't actually deliver on the day that they promise to. "We will be on time" they wrote but they didn't come at all. After a lot of back and forth, they agreed to come by 11pm the following day (yes, that is 11pm, not 11am).

I bought an office chair from UMA - lasted six months before the structure failed. Not a fault in the product per se or damage, just not well-made and overpriced. I would avoid for furnishings that involve moving parts.

Newman's right--this is Hanoikea. Smaller, friendlier, less crowded. And, thank God, with fewer kits that you have to put together yourself. Uma is not quite as proportionately inexpensive as Ikea is in the states. The prices are reasonable, but reasonably high if you've tried any store-front to store-front shopping. Their gear is bright, cheery, vaguely downscale Williams-Sonoma-ish with unusual, for Haoi, products (candles) and colors (primary other than red and yellow) and patterns (the eye-hurting someone talked about--though I and my friends think of it as more "festive"). The store meanders through about six new store fronts so seems bigger than it is since there's only one entrance at one end.

I like the staff ("I remember you. You're the old bald one" notwithstanding). They haven't tried to cheat me and they always start phoning a cab when I begin checking out.

E-mailing didn't work but contacting them on Facebook did. Sent a guy round to fix it. Arrived within 5 minutes of the appointed time. Office chair now fixed. Cost VND50,000.

[Furniture is OK but they have absolutely no interest in after-sales service. I bought an office chair and the plastic fitting for one of the feet has broken. I can't even get them to answer :(]

Well worth visiting for furniture ... but not perfect.

I ordered a table and it came with the wrong legs (but they'll do).

The guy who delivered the table also assembled it, but he was in a hurry, so some of the legs were still wobbly when he left (but I could finish the job off).
