** review is of Italian Restaurant only
Set in a secluded and lush garden along the Saigon River, Thao Dien Village is a tropical hideaway. Owned by Duong Tan Hoai, the man behind the well-regarded Quan An Ngon restaurant chain, the complex is comprised of four high-end restaurants (Vietnamese, Italian, Thai and Japanese), a luxurious spa, and a 22-room boutique hotel.
The Italian Restaurant:
Mama-mia the food was average. Having now been there a few times, it is safe to say that the dishes from the pasta to sandwiches are fair. It is the view, the quiet, and the romantic ambience (very subjective) that I have come to love. I feel a wonderful solitude and happiness sitting and watching the tug boats and other floaters meander by. The place always seems empty so it is the perfect place to work or read, even if I have to order a bland gazpacho soup to be able to do so.
