NEVER AGAIN!!!!
I have been to this establishment at least 10+ times and have spent quite a bit of $$$. I will never go again. I purchased food and sat down waiting for it. When the guy (Quan) brought it to me, he stated in front of a room full of patrons in his broken English, “I cannot bring other drinks inside” looking at the bottle of water I had brought with me. I told him that I just purchased food! it wasn’t like I just walked in and sat down without purchasing anything. He persisted rudely, and said ‘No no I can’t do that!’. He was so nasty about it, and I said ‘are you expecting me to leave now?’ He said, “You better know for next time not to.” I let him know, ‘there won’t be a next time.’ These people KNOW I have been a regular customer in the past few weeks I have been there. No more. To make a huge issue out of something like this is ridiculous! Furthermore their prices are way too expensive - paying western prices in Vietnam for these food/drinks is also a royal rip-off. This place has lost my business. Would not recommend. Awful attitude and no appreciation for their customers/repeat business.

To my jubilant glee, Joma has been expanding rapidly recently. This newest addition to the family seems to have been strategically placed to accommodate the large sum of embassies in the area. Though a bit cramped in comparison to their more spacious To Ngoc Van location, Joma Lieu Giai succeeds in bringing exactly what I love about their restaurant to my neighborhood- atmosphere. Joma continues to be a great place to relax, study, and get work done with the best cup of coffee in town. With three stories of seating (*edit* four stories plus a sky balcony), plenty of those plush chairs we all love, and a balcony to boot, you'll always be able to find a seat and reliably get your stuff done.

The food is every bit as good as the other locations. The bathrooms are cleaner, though not air conditioned like at To Ngoc Van. The parking is fine. The menu is the same.

Previously I left a comment about a problem with smokers in the restaurant. The management quickly corrected the staff and now this is no longer a problem. Their prompt and decisive action shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.

Speaking of the management, the manager is the woman responsible for the To Ngoc Van location. Since these two locations are my favorite, I'll have to tip my hat to this genius lady. The co-manager Duong was also brought over from To Ngoc Van and is responsible for the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. She really makes you feel at home! In comparison to the one next to Puku, this Joma is far more personal, yet maintains the academic cafe environment scholars and gentlemen like myself value so greatly. Both girls really do their jobs well and I hope they continue to manage for Joma.

Finally a good cafe-bakery near the Daewoo. This site is not as big as the other JOMAs, but it is not too small either. The staff were in training when I stopped in for my visit. (Imagine that, training your staff. What a novel concept.) The training must have gone well, because my order came through just fine and I was sippin' a nice cup of JOMA Joe on the patio upstairs in less than 5 minutes. So, if you live near the Daewoo, you finally have a decent place to grab a yummy bagel and some good coffee.

Conveniently, this Joma is only a few hundred meters from the office. So it's really easy to duck down for a coffee and a snack. It's also well placed to drop in on the way home from town if need be.

But, mainly, it's another Joma in Hanoi. With Joma, the brand carries certain expectations. All of them are met in this venue. Good food, good drinks, warm staff who know what they're doing, nice premises, decent wifi and consistency. Above all else, I value consistency at a cafe. Joma gets it right.

Plus, Joma does fantastic lunch deliveries. Our office uses them several times a week. It's cheap, efficient and always on time.

In my view, Joma meets it's aims by not trying to be 'high end' but trying to deliver a good quality and consistent cafe experience.

Great stuff and a recommended cafe in Ba Dinh.
