“In a word, awesome. I honestly don\'t know what I would do if this website didn\'t exist. A wealth of information that is unparalleled to anything I have seen in many other Asian cities. Downsides? Somewhat strict and counter-intuitive rules regarding posting questions. That and a pool of smug us...”
I've never used any of Vietnammm's competition so I can't make any comments on whether or not they are better or worse than the other online operators. However, I can say that on every single occasion I have used Vietnammm, they have met, and often exceeded, my expectations.
Not so long ago I would have sworn black and blue I would never use online food delivery services or 'stoop' to having food delivered to my door. I'm the first to admit that I've completely changed my view.
I'm not a big junk food eater, I rarely go out for burgers and even less often will I do pizza. Hardly ever have I had junk food delivered to my door - KFC is within five minutes walk of my home if I get that kind of urge; and Burger King is about five minutes by motorbike if needed. Vietnammm, however, gives me more than just junk food options. They give me healthy options as well and huge variety of suppliers who have extensive menus that cater for most tastes. But even that's not what makes Vietnammm successful in my eyes. It's their service.
Their website is very easy to use. I was only made aware of this when I realised my colleagues at work were regularly ordering lunch online and having it delivered. Our office happens to be in the midst of what can only be described as a black hole of food options in Hanoi. All the Vietnamese staff agree - there's nothing decent in the way of eateries or anything less than a motorbike ride away. The best we have nearby is a bun cha place a few minutes walk down the street. So, staff either bring in their own food or they order online. This is where I was introduced to the benefits of Vietnammm. At work we've ordered a range of salads, pastas and sandwiches depending upon the mood of the moment. Delivery is always on time and fulfilled as ordered. At home, I live 'in the sticks' according to many Hanoians - out past Cau Giay district. As such, my online ordering options are quite limited. However, I can get pizza, pasta and sandwiches as well from nearby places.
Back to the service thing. A couple of times I've had small issues with ordering. Vietnamm have been brilliant on the phone at sorting out issues - they seem to have their communication systems working really well and aim to support customers and resolve problems wherever possible. They back the customer and have no hesitation providing direct feedback to food establishments if necessary. There's also an online live-chat help system. I've used this to enquire whether I can order Indian food from a particular place that could be delivered to my home out in the sticks. They've instantly contacted the restaurant and advised what time they could deliver (after the dinner rush). This is great service, it really is. No guessing, no assuming. Contact, questions, more contact, answers and resolution. Cant ask for more than that.
Vietnammm appear to have the business model working well and delivering (no pun intended) results. As I said, I can't compare to any other providers. Neither have I any need to do such comparisons. Vietnammm provides everything I need in an online food delivery service. Five stars well earned.
I am writing this review as I feel Vietnammm has an unfair rep on this site and seen as I have been ordering from them for well over a year now after getting sick of eat.vn.
I can say I have never had a problem with them. Firstly i will happily pay to have the convenience of all the restaurants on one site and especially for the pleasure of not having to converse with restaurants over the phone and give my address 47 times to the person on the other end.
In addition I have had some problems with restaurants while using this service (Foodshop, Donkey Bakery, Joma and Da Paolo off the top of my head) Vietnammm have being excellent in acting as a mediator and worked out a free buffet at Donkey Bakery (and allowed me to update my review on their site afterwards) and shop credit at Foodshop for my next order, which was honoured about 2 weeks later, which was nice.
All in all a fantastic service that allows you to see how much to pay beforehand and allows you to add a note about drivers needing change for 500k.
Happy customer would be 4 stars but feel the balance needs addressing.
Placed an order through vietnammm.com for delivery from R&R Tavern at 4:40 pm. Order was confirmed through a text and email, saying that my delivery would arrive at 5:30. At 6:15 I called R&R Tavern to check on my food, for them to say "Sorry, we cancel your order. It's Thanksgiving."
No more vietnammm.com for me.... back to eat.vn!
I prefer eat.vn over vietnammm. Eat.vn has a better selection of restaurants. I can get Quattro formaggi pasta and a smoked duck salad from Ete on eat.vn. Can I do that on Vietnammm? No.
But Vietnammm will give you $100,000.00 to write a review.
