Bloodaxe on UNESCO Centre for International Cooperation on Education (CICE)

Worked for these guys for almost 3 months not long after we arrived in Ha Noi, with mostly good experiences. The 3 stars are for the kids, the facilities and the girls who run the place, but after that it goes downhill.

I was offered a 12 month contract with all Visa/permit costs to be covered by UNESCO, but of course this never materialised. It seems that this is their way of keeping you at the centre.

The final straw for me was when I had been doing 25 hrs per week for nearly 3 months, was just offered another 5 hrs on top, but then had my hours drop to 15. A couple of other teachers had the same thing happen to them at the same time as well.

The reason?...UNESCO decided to employ a new Manager, on a decent wage, but on top of that he wanted 25 hrs of teaching pay as well. Apparently it is pretty hard to live on US$2000 per month! So long story short is that we all lost hrs to accomodate his request.

Overall, I would recommend working here as the facilities and kids are great. But if you beleive that they will look after you then you could be in for a rude shock...keep all your options open is all I can say.

Didn't want to give one star, but had to.
This place is a complete farce, by using the UNESCO name, these people trap both unsuspecting teachers and students.

I would strongly suggest that people stay away from this place. There are many centres out there that can provide much better management and education.
