Description: An English center and teacher placement agent who has contracts with various Vietnamese schools around Hanoi.

Warning: KELLA recently (Jan '16) posted SEVEN fake reviews of their own center. They have been removed and the accounts banned, but it is an apparent indication of ethics of their organization. Take this into consideration when dealing with them or when reading any internet content related to them.

Rating: 2.36 on a scale of 1 to 5. Based on 11 reviews.

Hi, This isn't a fake review.
You can look me up on FB: Adam Straub

I worked at Kella from 2016-2019 and have come back recently to Hanoi to work there again.
As far as fake reviews, I cannot understand why negative employee reviews are here, but not positive ones. (Those are fake?)
Never in the history of teaching have I or anyone else had over 50 students in one class at a time. Completely false.
I enjoyed the extremely poorly written reviews that left one star, it is a business after all.

KELLA pays well, on time, and is a smaller operation. Instead of dealing with 20 managers or "head teachers" that have absolutely no power to help you, at KELLA you can deal with just 2. Scheduler and boss. Both of which you are given the phone number of.

If you want a lot of hours, daytime, with good ACTUALLY competitive pay, it's a great place.

Read the other reviews, ignore the ones they put on facebook. Doesn't surprise me they have been banned for making fake accounts and posting reviews.

1st impressions they are nice but wait...
The company and especially the director will try to belittle you, and make you feel lucky you landed this dodgy job.
As others said she is a total sociopath.

Lesson plans don't make sense, TA's barely can hold a conversation in English. Teach 50+ students, every day you have to teach different schools hours away from each other.

They will try to find faults to give you less money or knock you down a notch, but they will try to keep you working there still.

Scum. Dodgy. Unprofessional. Liers. And proven they use fake accounts to boost their terrible reputation.

I am a teaching assistant here, and I have been treated very well so far. I don't know about the other teachers that had worked here many years ago, but almost every teacher, both full time and part time, is very satisfied. Maybe you should come and see for yourself.

Now, first thing first. I am a former employee so some may say this might make this review biased. This is not what I am after, I just don't want anyone else to get caught out as I did.

The good ie the work : the schools that Kella send you to aren't to bad and the kids and the teaching part of it are great. I really can't fault them.

The bad ie Kella Management : they come across as really professional on the first few meetings but from there it just goes downhill. The only reason they have a few school contacts is that the owner has friends in the Education Department that have pulled a few strings for her.

Kella offer great money on the first few meetings but then the excuses start to roll in - oh, the classes are smaller then normal so I can't pay you as much; oh, your teaching primary school and I was talking about high school for that wage; the school isn't giving me as much anymore etc etc etc.

Lack of resources and mis-information is their most consistent thing. They tell you that you are teaching one thing to one class (age group etc) and then when you turn up it is something completely different to a completely different group, so there goes all your preperation.

Another thing they dangle out is the carrot of the work permit and visa. Of course never materialises and I don't know anyone who has ever worked for them who got this magical thing that was promised.

So overall I'd give the kids and schools a 6 out of 10 but Kella as an employer would be scraping to get a 2 out of 10. Again, this isn't a disgruntled ex-employee bagging them (I have gone on to bigger and better things, I learnt a lot from them - good and bad stuff) but just a review so that others who might be thinking of working for them can make a better, more informed decision than I did.

I agree with what you've said the Directors name is Mrs. Hieu. She only cares about making money and not her employees or the kids who pays. Do not work for the Kella group if you want to be treated fairly!
