I went here yesterday for what Australians would call a 'Saturday sesh.'

The courtyard was delightfully empty, and therefore spacious, although the chairs were of the standard plastic variety.

The view of the lake included fish, walkers, football players and even a teleporting Asian Morgan Freeman. So in other words, the view was interesting and provided many conversation points as the session progressed.

We ordered three plates of chips which were of the Vietnamese standard and nothing more. Other meals consumed that I can't comment on were a beef and fruit dish, beef and fish fried rice, and a buttered roll. My fellow drinkers assured me the meals were tasty.

So far this is the best bia hoi I've had in Hanoi, with a watered down Carlton Draught quality I relished.

A good bia hoi joint. It's on the edge of the delightful concrete Giang Vo Lake, and it's quite a distance from Ngoc Khanh St, so you're spared some of the traffic noise.

The beer's pretty standard bia hoi (is there ever much between bia hoi beers?) and the food is above average.

I've been a on a Saturday afternoon, which is a great time to see people relax at the end of their working week by drinking until they turn redfaced, then rather paler, until the inevitable ensues.

A good after work spot for the summer evenings if you work in the area.

Oh, and the toilets must be in the running for the cleanest bia hoi toilets in Vietnam (not that there'd be many competitors in cleanliness stakes).

Love the food, the view is beyond great, on the edge of one of those concrete lakes that grow on you, the beer is of course weak and warm, but drink enough and that does not matter too much, real nice pork, good friendly service, nice but odd fried corn, only trouble is they seem to close at 10 on weeknights, anyway great place to have dinner after work,
