“i meant to write this review for these guys for a long time. After staying at a house for 4 years, our landlord decided to change a lot of the deals with our house, we started looking for a new house. After spending days looking on the internet, we drove around all the West lake area to find a new ...”
This is not a review as I have not had the chance to visit the Centre.
Rather it is just to highlight the fact as I understand it that the daughter of a high up official in the local Forestry Department is trying to take the site back to build an amusement/entertainment park....
The Centre is part of Animal Asias Moon Bear Rescue operation.

A group of friends and I took a road trip out to Tam Dao to see the moon Bear Sanctuary. The sanctuary wasn't actually open to the public on this day, but they still allowed us sto come in and gave a private guided tour around the grounds....O and our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgable about all things related to the bears.
It was an eye opening experience and now I am now planning on taking my students there for an excursion this school year.
You don't hear from these guys very much - they work away quietly in the background - but when you do hear something, it's fantastic. Here's the latest: http://www.thanhniennews.com/society/?catid=3&newsid=54775
The man running this show, Tuan, used to be my dog's vet... and while Wheels may not give him 5 stars (she ain't no fan of going to the doctor), I'm happy to know that he's using his immense skill in doing something so important.
5 stars for the excellent Bear Sanctuary at Tam Dao national park, about an hour and a half outside Hanoi. They have about 30 sun and moon bears, all rescued from horrible conditions in bile farms and from poachers around Vietnam. There is a big outdoor enclosure and you can see them sleeping, eating, playing and generally being bears, most for the first time in their lives. They also have 3 bear cubs which are really cute, only a few months old.
The sanctuary officially opened a couple of months ago and has plans to expand significantly. We were lucky enough to have one of the vets show us round but I'm pretty sure if you called the office, they could arrange a private/group visit.
It is a great day trip and was lovely to see these bears well kept and happy. Thanks AAF for making it happen.
