“I taught there for 3 months then they didn't have much class to offer because it was Lunar Tet Holiday. I like the staffs there, they are helpful.”
I'm going to start with the obvious - what a view!
But it is. Really.
I've never really appreciated the twists and turns and sheer size of Westlake and Truc Bach before so it was great to see them from such a height - even though I was seeing them in darkness.
The bar itself - and I am talking specifically about the outside area - is very nicely done. Comfortable enough chairs and nice ambiance. I had expected the breeze but it was more than that - it was really fresh up there. It wasn't just the usual fumes in your face it genuinely felt like there was a large amount of air mixed in with it too.
Because of the prices we'd only intended to go for a single drink but I enjoyed it so much I had another 120,000 Jack Daniels and ice (they said it was a single but it seemed a hefty enough measure).
Anyway, great for a special occasion.
As I said, I sat outside. The inside was largely empty and was playing some absolutely horrible generic dance floor cack. Oh for something just a little more chilled out that is more inkeeping with the fabulous view and the overall feel of the place.
Mercifully though the beats were just for the inside area and didn't wreck the quiet relaxation of outside.
The promotion here on Thursday nights is definitely one of the best kept secrets in Hanoi (until now of course). Every thursday from 7-9pm first drinks for ladies are free. After that, all drinks (cocktails, beer, wine etc) are 55,000 VND/each for all guests. On top of that, there's a free buffet with sushi, fruit and some other nice things to nibble on.
Besides the view (which is amazing of course), it is a a great deal. Would highly recommend it and will definitely return!
This bar has great views and quite friendly staff. They are going to renovate the bar in the new year which I think is needed! The drinks are expensive as is typical for most good hotels. 180k++ for the house wine (yuk). We were expecting the buffet, a free drink for ladies and then 55k per drink between 7-9 however we were informed on arrival at 7pm that this promotion finished last month. I was a bit surprised then to hear a group of ladies who arrived just after 9pm being told that they were too late for the promotion suggesting that it was still ongoing. Very misleading. I do hope they don't go again next week!
Summit is one of my favorite place in Hanoi in weekdays...
They said open till late but it doesn't. At 11:30PM they will start asking you for last order!
View is awesome, sitting outside or inside both good, good drinks, decent staffs except some ridiculous rule.
I bought a bottle of Macallan, the said they only keep it in 5 days. And I was back there to use it, the second time, they said the new rule said they will not keep any bottle, I had to take it away!
I can't understand that non-sense rule in one of the best bars in Hanoi!
I usually go to Summit Lounge right after it opens as it can get really crowded at night and the music can be a little too loud for a 'lounge'.
The views of West Lake are the best you can find. So on those rare October days when Hanoi's Air Pollution Index is tolerable, it's quite nice to sit outside and enjoy the sunset.
The drink mixes are also reasonably consistent for Hanoi.
If you like Summit Lounge...
