The coconut ice-cream is unlike any other I have ever tried. I didn't even like coconut before Hanoi, but its the best!

Great place for cheap local ice cream! Although getting in on a hot night can be a bit overwhelming (ie lots of motorbikes parked out front, lots of crowds and little kids running around with ice cream), for the price you can't find anything better. For 7,000 VND you can get a bar of delicious coconut ice cream with real coconut chunks.

Just make sure to eat it quickly before it melts everywhere!

This is a little gem that few tourists know about, although the place is located in the tourist sector. I say because on several times I have been here and never see any foreigners here except my present company.
But my favourite is the soft serve ice cream, which they only have on occasions. The soft serves ice cream at this place gives MacDonalds ice cream a run for its money. Usual flavours include chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. And this place as it is a place attracting locals is cheap. I mean between 3000-5000dong per item. AWESOME. You can get overly sick trying out the flavours.

This place does get crowded, and I mean packed, especially in the evenings and summert..they pack 10-12 sticks of your favourite flavours and off you go

A great little spot that the locals flock to for some of the best ice cream in the area. A Vietnamese friend took me to this spot a few weeks ago and up until that point I had no idea how good the ice cream is in this country.
Within this shop there are three ice cream vendors. I've only had ice cream at two of the three vendors. The first one I tried is in the middle of floor. 10.000d per. It only sells one vanilla-like flavor(made fresh I was informed) so it shouldn't take you too long to choose a flavor here but they do that one flavor pretty darn well. The next vendor I tried is just behind the first one. 8.000d per. If I recall, this one sells 3-4 flavors. Amazing ice cream.
Forgive my lack of adjectives but just trust me, this place won't disappoint. Always packed with locals, and for good reason. Bring a friend and some napkins.

The ice cream is not particularly good, but it's cheap, and it's one of Hanoi's most beloved places.

You drive your motorcycle inside the store, park it amongst the 50 or so motorcycles already there, fight your way through the crowd to the counter, pay 4000 dong and leave with one of 6 flavours of ice cream bars.

You rarely see ex-pats or tourists, instead you see Vietnamese couples on dates, families taking their children to their favourite ice cream parlour in town, and you feel like you're really part of Hanoi.

Most of my Vietnamese friends tell me about their families taking them here as children, and they say it with joy.
