Interesting location and decor but food is definitely overpriced and some of the rice wine that they serve has chopped up endangered species in it.

An undeniably wonderful place to go. If you love train nostaglia and ever wanted to hop on a box car and get lost, this place will let you sit back and indulge your fantasies. Its best to request old Trinh Cong Son songs. That's hipster music in Williamsburg,NY, but also works well in Vietnam of all places. Drink snake wine, taste lizards.

What a great find this place is! Just spent the evening watching trains go chugging by right in front of our feet and drinking beers for just 12,000vnd per bottle. One of the owners runs a graphic design company, hence the funky decor and classy menu design. It's so refreshing to find somewhere new and funky in Hanoi with great food! The cai lan stirfry with mushrooms was delicious, as were the fried Ray Nem (seafood with pineapple?). They had some moreish beer snacks too like salty fried anchovies, edamame and spicy pickled cabbage. I think they have some interesting specials each day, but they had sold out by 9pm. The woman who runs the kitchen has travelled a lot, so is not afraid to try new dishes. The owners are so lovely, they treated us to 4 rounds of rice wine shots. Make sure you try the red lemon rice wine. Taste like lollies! Be sure to check this place out!

I'm so glad that this place isn't located near my apartment, otherwise I may end up being a hobo strolling around the railway waiting for it to open.

They have a good collection of authentic rice/herbal wine, of which my favorite is the cinnamon. Earthy, strong, aromatic, a perfect fix for the bone-piercing cold of Hanoi in winter. The food is simply amazing, my recommendations are stuffed duck neck, oxtail herbal soup, and their range of papaya salad. If you are fan of tasty and spicy foods, this is the place to go.

"Ray" means railroad in Vietnamese, and it's an honest indication of this place. If you book a table outside, prepare yourself for a clickety-clack sonic attack of the trains departing from Hanoi Station. Not a good place to treat your suicidal friend though.

Highly recommended.

This small restaurant with 2 floors opened just few days ago. It's very small but very friendly. Better to reserve in advance if you come in a group.
The food list, sometimes bizarre, is very long but the bill is always short. A wide range of rice wine (rượu).
