Hi all, thank you for taking time to read and answer my question. I am from a small state in the USA and was recently offered a position at an international school in Hanoi, requiring me to move in July. I applied because I am 25, single and looking for adventure at this phase of my life while also not sacrificing finanacial security. I was feeling confident about this decision until speaking with my family who pointed out that I haven’t been to Southeast Asia or loved out of the state (have traveled but never lived elsewhere due to family commitments and school). This would be a big change for me and I was wondering what people’s thoughts were. I would be leaving the comfort of a secure job in a state that I know well for a two year stay in Hanoi. Has anyone else taken this leap of fai...
Does anyone know where I can buy regular size rolling papers (like Tally-Ho) and filters for roll your own cigarettes near Hai Ba Trung District? Stocked up on duty free tobacco before I left home, but have run out of papers and filters.
Hi everyone, I am currently 26 years old from Germany and I am going to graduate this year with a Masters in Chemistry and I would really like to experience a different place for at least year (preferably more), before eventually deciding what I am gonna do next. I already visited Vietnam/Hanoi a couple of times (vacations/backpacking) and completely fall in love with the country. I always hear about teaching jobs in SEA, tho I am not too sure if I am permitted to teach English since I am not a native English speaker, and I assume there is not enough demand for German teachers. I was wondering if anyone has some advice in regards to my job possibilities?
I have major issues with mould. I don't like it, it doesn't like me (I can tell); basically we don't co-exist happily. I have just moved into a house on West lake. Here, there is mould. I would be grateful if people would comment on the effectiveness of the following methods for removing / preventing mould, and suggest other possible solutions. I know there's a certain level that I'll just have to tolerate - I want this to be as small as possible though! Mould destruction methods: * cross breezes - have windows open as much as possible, fans on; * dehumidifier; * dissicants - such as 'damp rid' and 'tinkling grandma' (local brand - loving the name); * scrub walls and ceilings with sugar soap; * pray to the fire Gods to rid this scurge from the earth - or at least m...
Lately I've found myself being attacked rather vigourously by mosquitos whilst I'm sleeping, which I'm not enjoying. I can't seem to locate the insects responsible (although I'm pretty sure they're mosquitos rather than bed bugs or fleas), and the idea of using a net makes me feel a bit claustrophobic. I heard that there's some kind of effective electronic mosquito deterrent / zapper that one can plug into a power socket - does anyone have details on this product, or know where I could buy one? Thanks R
Hi all. I'm an American just now moving to Hanoi for work. I need to find an accountant out here who is very experienced with America and Vietnam tax practices to help me figure out how best to approach my tax payments in both countries.

Does anyone know where I can get mini desktop computers? I need something for the office computers that is less bulky/ugly than the standard atx boxes. Something in the line of this http://vatgia.com/tugia&module=product&view=detail&record_id=4645013 It would be used for surfing, printing, and office documents, so not much power needed, nor a DVD reader.
