Hi, folks. I'm new on this site, and I read the instructions, so I hope I am operating within the rules. I am in Thailand, though I'm from the US. I'm very strongly considering teaching ESL in VN, and to that end have been studying Vietnamese. I have an MA in TESL and plenty of experience. I sent email inquiries to VUS English Centers (based on a reco) and to Vietnam Teachings Jobs.com and Compass Education, both just as a result of a google search. But here's the think.... I haven't gotten a peep out of them. The first one I wrote about six days ago, the others three days ago. Any advice on how I can try to line up a job there while being outside the country? It would just be me and my American citizen but non-working wife (let's just say we have been empty nesters for a whi...

Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to buy Concerta in Vietnam? In the USA it is a controlled drug and I can only get 30 tablets each month. That way they can limit illegal sales of drugs in the USA. My parents aren't able to send me my medicine overseas, and my doctor won't prescribe me anymore unless I show up the the USA and have an appointment. It is all very annoying. Does anyone know of any ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) medication in Vietnam? Other than Ritalin? Thanks much for your replies in advance!!

I am new to Vietnam and am trying to learn at least a little bit of the language. There is someone who offers a class for about 5$ a person but she needs about 5 people in the group. Is anyone else interested?

Hi There Everyone, I am seeking advice on how to proceed with opening up a startup with Vietnamese citizens. I see most businesses open through a Joint Stock Company here. 1. I was wanting to know would it be best to open a Limited Liability Company instead of a Joint Stock Company? 2. What is the best way to protect yourself as a foreigner when it comes to being in a partnership? (Not saying that things will go wrong or VN citizens are bad, but just wondering for future reference so that we can ensure fairness.) 3. One advice has been stated that I open business by myself, but with a team, it's better in my opinion as everyone has different expertise. 4. How can we ensure equal rights with equal power when it comes to decision making or vote on decisions. Who gets the overa...

First, can anybody link to garbage sorting collecting centers that pay for trash? I often see people digging through trash to take cans and bottles somewhere where it seems they will get paid for them. Where are the biggest locations and what are their names? Second, does anyone know where to dispose of harmful (electronic) trash like batteries, light bulbs, and things that contain chemicals? After reading this question already asked on TNH, I understand how most people sort their trash (or not at all). https://tnhvietnam.xemzi.com/tw/hanoi/aska/answers/qid/1921 I want to create a map with all of the garbage collection sites (addresses, opening hours, how to sort, and costs per material).

A friend of mine visited Hanoi last year and included a Halon Bay tour but bought no pearls. Now she is coming back to Hanoi and wants to buy some pearls. Unfortunately, this year no trip to Halong Bay is planned. Does someone know where she can buy jewelry with pearls and that kind of stuff in Hanoi?

Where, if so can you buy Huda Beer in Hanoi? Just came back from a quick trip to Da Nang and loved the beer. So planned to buy a case once i was through security, but none of the shops sold it in the new terminal, also I have never seen it here in Hanoi. I know Beer Temple does not sell it. Anyone know?

Where the devil is a smoke shop in Ha Noi? Anything close to a western smoke shop, with a good selection of cigarettes, cigars, shisha, and pipe tobacco. I know of fancy liquor stores on almost every street, but not a single smoke shop have I found.

I would like to apply for residency(temporary and ideally permanent). Has anyone does this with the help of a lawyer? I don't mind paying a fee. It would be preferable to running around myself. Any contacts in this area would be appreciated.

Has anyone overstayed a visa recently and paid the fine on exit at the airport? If so how much was the fine and is it still calculated on a per day basis?

So I arrived in Hanoi on Sat. night. When passing through customs I was taken aside and then escorted to the visa office where they explained to me that there had been an error on my visa. I got my visa through the Viet Consulat in Ottawa, Canada. Apparently they put the wrong code done and therefore the visa was incorrect. I had paid about $100usd for a 6 month single entry visa and was now informed that my visa would only be good for a single month due to the error. Not wanting to get into an arguement because I was tired from 30 hours of travelling I just accepted the outcome and came to my hotel room. My main question is: Should I contact the consulat in Ottawa and explain the problem to them? And do you think they will be able/willing to do anything about it? I don't care about the...
