Looking for a place (shop) where I can buy bed linen and kitchen items (plates, glasses, pots and pans,) - something simple and basic, at reasonable price.

I've been lucky enough to be sent a cider brew kit, to satisfy my cider craving. Now what I need is two litre (stuff you auto correct, it's not liter) bottles (plastic) of apple juice. Also be great to get some dark grape juice and black current. They need to be preservative free. I will be making about 60 litres, so getting a good source would be helpful. Cheers.

Hey so I am new in these here parts and thanks to some amusing reviews on The New Hanoian I recently discovered the Woolworths meets Morrisons joy of Big C, leading to my first home-cooked bacon sandwich. However, I wish to take my culinary mastery to a new level and this means little pots of herbs and spices, which sadly Big C seemed to lack. Specifically I would love a pot of basil, oregano, thyme, cumin, garam masala, turmeric and perhaps the odd stock cube or two. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've looked around, and been to the big store on Nui Truc (which sells some great Salon style hair and face brands as well as Body Shop), but I'm specifically looking for the Garnier Fructis Line. They had the shampoo but not the conditioner (??!!!). I'm rather fussy because of my curls and just interested where everyone buys their products, so I can go check other places out myself. If you've seen any Garnier Fructis products, let me know. Much appreciated.

Where can I go to get some quick cheap vegetarian food to go? In saigon there are many places for under 30,000 {usually around or biside pagodas} to get a set meal or a pic and choose, but I have yet to find this in hanoi

Ok, I know this question has been asked/addressed a few times but can someone recommend a decent pizza delivery? All the reviews I have been reading on ANH has indicated that I shouldn't be expecting pizza like back home - that's fine, but any edible ones out there? Does pizza hut deliver??

Hello All, can anyone recommend a L'Oreal or Kerastase hairdresser in Hanoi, or equally good? Possibly not far from the old quarter? Thanks!

I see this question has been asked before about a year ago, so I will ask again, hoping for more of an updated answer. Is it possible to get tempeh in Hanoi?

Day 59: Still can't find a place makes decent carbonara. Where's to have it, my friends? I've tried some restaurants which are considered 'proper Italian restaurants' but all I had was dry pasta with ham. I need a creamy disk.

I recently moved to Hanoi from Korea, so pardon my ignorance. This is my first Tet in Vietnam (Hanoi). Will *some* restaurants be open? Just a few? People are telling me that for about 4 days, restaurants will be closed and the city will be a ghost town. I don't cook, but have bought bread and top ramen. What restaurants (and what areas) will be open, during Tet?

Hi. Could you suggest some places where they have nice sofas and serve good cocktails? Thank you. To mods: I've searched for this without any result.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone ever asks street food places not to put Monosodium Glutamate into their food? I feel like it must be a fairly common seasoning and while I love my noodles I'm less keen on my body swimming with msg. Or, better still, tell me there's no msg in street food and I can noodle up to my heart's content!

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a buffet lunch / dinner at one of the hotels in Hanoi? The hotel websites themselves have little to no information on these kind of things, especially the price. I know there are reviews of the various options on the pages for some of the hotels, but most are old and I wondered if anyone has up to date info. Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated, ta.

Has anyone found any Montreal style bagels in the city? The ones from Joma are ok, but not really what I'm looking for (smaller, chewier, a little bit sweet from a bit of honey, sooooo good with smoked salmon or just butter).
