I've been searching though Ask ANH for a source for good cat food (not Whiskers) in the Ba Dinh or Hoan Kiem Districts, but to no avail. If I missed the thread could another cat lover point it out or just tell me where I can get quality cat food south of Ho Tay? This is serious. Apparently Mr. Poe would rather starve himself than eat Whiskers. He keeps trying to cover it up. Cat body language? I've resorted to canned tuna, but that's not a good solution long term. If someone has a good cat food receipt, that might work. Mr. Poe would be most grateful.
Does anyone know what the Vietnamese do with unripe pomegranates? It seems that most of the ones for sale around my home are so unripe that they will never ripen. Is there some special dish that is made here which calls for unripe pomegranates? And is there anywhere that one can find pomegranates that have not been picked too soon? I once ordered a pomegranate smoothie from a shop on Ba Trieu and I watched the guy make it. I was very surprised when I saw him cut open the pomegranate and then put the white (not red!) seeds in the drink. It tasted awful.
I am fed up of Nongshim "Shin Cup" instant ramen noodles for my lunch at work. Anyone seen UK style Pot Noodles for sale in Hanoi ? I miss sweet and sour / beef and tomato / bombay bad boys. I know that they are not healthy but thats probably why they taste good.... http://www.unilever.co.uk/brands/foodbrands/Pot_Noodle.aspx
Where is a good place to go for a good old fashioned roast chicken ,beef or lamb ,with gravy and pumpkin with roast potaotes and other vegetables .This cold weather is making us crave a roast meal .Any suggestions
I have 3 big empty water bottles that Laska charged a 50k each deposit on. I've changed over to a different water delivery company and now Laska is ignoring my maid's calls to pick up the bottles and refund my deposit. I know it's not a lot of money but they shouldn't get away with ripping people off! Any suggestions as to what I can do next???
Hi All, This is my first question to ANH and it's a girly one (how embarrassment!) We're moving to Hanoi in a week. Currently in Thailand. Question: Can you get "Cilest" brand birth control pills in Hanoi? And I know there's lots of counterfeit consumables (spirits, medicine, etc) floating around. Are fake birth countrol pills an issue? Lets just say that I want to be sure that mine work...Ahem. Cheers for helping a newbie like me, Vick
Now that summer is upon us, I find myself longing for this childhood treat. A couple weeks ago in Hai Phong, I asked a cafe owner about root beer, and he looked at me as though I was from a different planet. I'd really love to share this with my vietnamese girlfriend who's never tried it before. Kind of makes me sad... Has anyone had luck finding root beer in the city or know of a distributor?
A friend of mine brought me very good tiramisu once and kept secret. And now cant ask again. I tried many times at many places already but i've never met that taste again...Who knows the best place selling it? Thanks!
