(See my "Short" history lesson if you don't know about the current currency situation in VN - it's after my question) My question: In September, I'm going back to visit family in the USA for a month, and I need to change well over 100 million VN Dong into US Dollars. Where can I change money for the least loss in the transaction? Because currently no banks will sell large amounts of US Dollars, the only options I can come up with are: 1) Buy US Dollars upon showing my airplane ticket. I heard about this from some colleages. I've tried this successfully once already, at Vietcombank, but they will only change to $500 maximum, and they keep a record, so it can't be done again. When I tried at ANZ Bank, they told me I would have to come back a week before the trip to change up t...
Hi there guys, Just need a opinion about my vietnam gf. I seeing her from last 2 years and things have been up and down. But from last 4 months everything went serious. We fell in love. We are looking forward to get married soon by october. Everything is working excellent. She is coming out my place. Cooking food for me. Looking after my health. Cleaning the house . Talking about our future babies and everything. Littlrly not demanding at all. If i buy her something she admires it but than tells me was not supposed to buy it and need to save money for our future. It really shows how much she loves me and really cares about me BUT Whenever I mention her that i want to talk to her family members she changes the topic. So many times i had to force her On that but because of th...
So I've seen a lot of posts on here about people renting 3 or 4 bedroom, brand-new houses in good areas for something ridiculous like $500 per month. Admittedly these posts were about 30-40 months old. This may be a stupid question but is it still possible to find deals such as these or is it just that prices have risen since then? I'm guessing that if they are out there, then they won't necessarily be listed on your stock standard real-estate sites. And yes, I have looked online but it seems that to get anything decent you'd have to pay something in the realms of $600-$700. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I have a friend arriving on a flight at 10:30 pm in a few months. I'm going to meet him at the airport. What are the best transport options to/from the airport? I know I can take bus 7 or 17 there, but maybe a taxi would be better (but more expensive.) I've heard there's a lot of ripping off with taxis from the airport, but also that there are some where you just pay a flat rate and they take you anywhere in the city for something like $10. Anyone know what these look like, what company they are, etc.?
I need to renew my US license and I received a letter stating that I have to fill out a form, and get an optician to do a Snellen test, fill out the form and sign it with their professional license number. Has anybody done this? It's not clear as to wether this works for opticians outside of the US. If so, where did you go and did the form filing work? Thanks! https://dmv.ny.gov/forms/mv619.pdf Vision Test Report (PDF) (MV-619) 1 completed by a physician physician's assistant ophthalmologist optometrist optician registered nurse nurse professional
Does anyone of you have any clues about restrictions on foreigners flying to Vietnam in the coming time, say May? My partner has an essential employee letter from his company and covid-19 testing results also issued by his company (negative, of course). Does that suffice to exempt him from the 14-day quarantine upon arrival? Many thanks in advance.
I returned to Hanoi the exact day they closed the border. I flew back to Singapore. My Vietnamese visa cards are not working in the ATMs. (my fault sincee I have never used them in ATMs before). I can pay for large purchases with them but I need cash for daily items. Both banks do not have a representative in Singapore. Any idea how I can get cash ?
Hi I would like to ship my bicycle from Hanoi, Vietnam to Dublin, Ireland, Does anyone know the best service to use? or has anyone experienced a similar issue and can provide any advice or input? I seem to have difficulty when it comes to exportings goods from Vietnam to Ireland.
Hi All, I know this question has been asked a million times before. So I apologize in advance even though I have done my research to other questions. I was wanting to know if their was an easier way to send money back to my home country from Vietnam. In the past, I have had a difficult time with Western Union and MoneyGram as they allow money to be brought in. Unfortunately, these companies will not let money to be taken out of the country. Any suggestions?
What are Vietnamese laws on prescription drugs like adderall or ritalin? Is it available, how does one go about getting a prescription. I have been off mine for a little but need a refill for some days i need the extra focus. Do the street pharmacies carry anything that would be an equivalent? Thanks
Hi Everyone Some questions about Squash, the game, not the food. a) Are the squash courts at the Hanoi Club the only ones in town? b) If they are can you pay a day rate and play, as $3000 a year is too steep for my pockets? c) If there are others, where are they and can you pay daily or do you to have to join? d) If any one is a member of the Hanoi Club and would like to play - please get in touch! Average ability. e) I am also a qualified teacher and coach, so if you would like some tuition also get in touch we can work out payment details later. Many Thanks Mike McDonald
Hi there, Was wondering if anyone could help ? My husband has signed us up to a house that really isn't appropriate as stairs etc are a safety issue for my small children, I know I can baby proof the stairs but everything but a small lounge room is upstairs which means we don't actually utilize any other part of the house as that would involve lugging 2 kids up 4 flights of stairs go use the rooftop terrace as well as drinks food etc that we would need when up there. He Has signed us up for a 12 month lease and want to know the likelihood of getting out of this. Also the contract states that by September (been here sin July) we have to cough up the entire 12 months rent in advance (in 3 month blocks of payment since July) is this normal ? It's an awful lot of money to pay upfron...
