Hi, I am coming to Hanoi for 10 days at the end of October, and I would like to learn woodblock printmaking. I have done some etching and mokuhanga as well, but I am far from being an expert. I would be interested in printing blocks on fabric. There is a great tradition and skill in Vietnam, but browsing the web I have not been able to find any workshops or classes. I would be looking to spend around 4 hours a day learning the craft during my stay. I would be grateful if you could give me some guidance. Recommendations on where to buy art supplies in Hanoi (tools, ink, paper) would also be most welcome. Thanks in advance Marta

Hi all. I’m in Hanoi for a few days from 4th July. Does anybody know if it is possible to do a 1 day tour from Hanoi to Halong Bay returning in the evening on the same day. 5th or 6th July 2019 might be a possibility. Thanks
Curious about a Reiki sign I saw at the Western Canned Food store awhile ago. It was there for months, but I only just went to check it out this week, and of course, it was gone! boo hoo. If you know this person that was advertising their services or anyone who practices in Hanoi, please let me know. Prefer English speaking person. Thanks, Steph dstephfuccio (at) yahoo.com www.travelgoddess.net
who plays violin with jeff beck? the answer is nowhere on you tube despite some rarified playing by the violinist. tabbed as "jeff beck and tal wilkenbucket" - the latter is his bass playing partner but not the violinist. never mind - i don't expect an answer but the "ask" website is now just another search engine
there was a previous post asking about ballet classes for adults. N space in West Lake has a teacher who is teaching beginner ballet classes. They may be willing to start adult intermediate classes if enough people are interested. For me I just want to move, and twirl and get a good work out for fun. I am not so worried about technique. Anyone else interested ? If we get enough people (4 or 5?) we can start. morning is best for me.
This post is for those that are new to Hanoi, we want to let you know of how some English centers are taking away from your pay. 1. If they are paying you $20 p/h and are taking away from you 500vnd for each dollar, then ask them to pay the current exchange rate of that day.... With the currency always lowering, that 500vnd adds up. If you have 50 hours a month, that's 500,000vnd. For the year, that is 6.000.000vnd. 2. Some English centers are claiming tax as they make some things very very confusing to calculate it as you really do not know where the portion they take is going to. 3. Some English centers will ask you to delay your pay over & over again until they incur a very large debt and may not fully pay it. 4. What experiences have you had?
Hi, I'm a naturopathic doctor from Canada. I will be returning to Hanoi within the year to get married and settle there. I'm curious as to whether or not there is a demand for a naturopathic doctor or if I'm going to have to switch careers. I'd really like to get your opinions on this. P.S. the last time I was in Hanoi, I wasn't able to locate a health food store...is there one? thanks :D
Does anyone know the title of the music being played on Vietnam Airlines while passengers board the plane (and search for their seats)? It's the accompanying music to the images of nature being shown on the television screens scattered all around the plane. I heard the music on all my domestic flights (Danang, Ho Chi Minh) aboard the Vietnam Airlines. It is just music with no lyrics. Very Relaxing music that I could use for my digital stories. Thanks a lot!
A good Vietnamese friend of mine is getting married soon, and I need to buy a gift. Yes, I know that tradition calls for money, but I'm not a traditionalist! I'm thinking of a really nice pendulum clock, what do you think? I won't be going to the wedding since it's halfway to HCM.
Hi, We are moving from one side of Hanoi to another in a few weeks or so and we need movers. We have some furniture and the new house we are moving to does not have car access (it is about 5 mins from the nearest place a car (or truck) can get to Does anyone know of a good moving company that will help us pack and transport our stuff to our new house? Thanks, Brighde
I am new to Vietnam and am trying to learn at least a little bit of the language. There is someone who offers a class for about 5$ a person but she needs about 5 people in the group. Is anyone else interested?
Any rock musicians in Hanoi? I'm a rock n roll bass guy, done vocals too, everything from Billy Joel and Van Morrison to the Stones, Weezer and Ramones. Anyone know if there are paid gigs or at least places to play in Hanoi? What about jam rooms? Be nice to meet some other players, nothing too serious or algebraic in execution. Thanks ; )
