I visited here today and while standing outside this photo being confused as to how to actually get upstairs (everyone sitting there just shook their heads when I pointed to the sign) I had a man come and yell and point across the street.
Once I realised he wasn't just yelling for the sake of it I realised there was an art shop across the street. Not sure if it's the same one but close enough.
The shop is tiny and the woman spoke English. I bought a large sketchbook (50K) and a pencil (10K).
I later walked down Yet Kieu which seemed to have alot more of a range but worth hitting them all if you're after something.
After a mishap with a particularly nice coffee cup where the handle departed the cup, I needed some ceramic paint to touch up after an epoxy repair.
This art store is very small but has a wide range of paints and brushes etc. Chatted with staff about what I needed. The best available paint didn't come in white or black. Selected a couple of small tubes of white and black in the next best thing so I can mix my own 'off-white' for the touch-up. Also bought two fine brushes.
All up, VND20,000. Seemed a crime to spend that little. Good but not great service but a useful little shop.
You will be suprised at what you can get here! They have a fantastic array of cheaper chinese and vietnamese materials as well as better brands such as raffine, and i can't remember, but nevertheless some good quality stuff. As an art teacher we order most of out specialty suplies from here. THey are happy to provide red reciepts for tax purposes. They can make easels and canvases with an assortment of different styles and prices.
